A homemaker, educator, and mentor, Shikha Kharia ~ VG Mrs India Global, is a woman who has learned to turn life’s most difficult chapters into reasons to keep going. Originally from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and now living in Muscat, Shikha carries her roots close to her heart. Her journey, from learning to become ambidextrous after being born left-handed, to educating children, experiencing the heartbreaking loss of her five-year-old daughter while serving children with special needs, undergoing major heart surgery, and eventually stepping onto a pageant stage, reflects extraordinary resilience.
LiveWabiSabi Stories features Shikha because her life beautifully embodies the essence of Wabi-Sabi: embracing imperfections, honouring scars, finding purpose in pain, and discovering that it is never too late to begin again, dream again, or discover the queen within.
Her WabiSabi Life Story
Shikha's journey has always been about adapting, learning, healing, and growing.
Born left-handed, she learned to become ambidextrous, a small beginning that taught her an important life lesson: change may challenge us, but it can also expand who we become.
As an educator, Shikha discovered the transformative power of knowledge. But some of her deepest lessons came through profound personal loss. After the heartbreaking loss of her five-year-old daughter, she found her purpose in advocating for children with special needs, channelling her grief into a powerful mission to support and uplift them. In the midst of unimaginable grief, she found an unexpected sense of healing through the very children she was serving. They taught her that even pain can become purpose.
Years later, another life-changing chapter arrived when Shikha underwent major heart surgery. Initially, she questioned why it had happened to her. But the experience transformed her perspective. She began seeing her scars not as symbols of weakness, but as reminders of strength, survival, and a second chance.
She made a promise to herself, not merely to return to the life she had before, but to live it with greater courage.
That courage eventually took her to a pageant stage, where she stepped into heels and pursued a dream that many might have considered “too late.” Winning the Mrs. India Global title became more than a pageant achievement. It became proof that age, fear, circumstances, or past experiences do not have to decide when our dreams end.
Today, Shikha mentors underprivileged children and teaches English to domestic workers because she continues to believe that education can change lives. For her, the crown is not simply an achievement. It is a message: if she can begin again, so can anyone.

Her Daily Dose of SelfLoveShots
For Shikha, self-love isn't about convincing herself that she is perfect. It is about accepting herself exactly as she is, even on the days when she doesn't feel perfect.
Her everyday self-love can look like taking time to breathe, caring for her body, practising yoga, eating healthy food, saying “no” without guilt, or simply allowing herself to rest.
And sometimes, self-love means enjoying her favourite food without counting every calorie.
But beneath all these practices lies something deeper: the way she speaks to herself.
Shikha has learned to offer herself the same kindness she would offer a friend. She believes self-love does not mean stopping your growth; it means no longer believing that you must be perfect to be worthy.
For her, the simplest definition of self-love is powerful: “I don't abandon myself, especially on the days when life is difficult.”
Her Proudest Moment
One of Shikha's proudest moments came when she stood on a pageant stage at an age when people might have asked, “Isn't it too late?”
After major heart surgery, even returning to normal life had once felt like an achievement. Yet she chose not to let that experience define her limitations.
Standing on that stage, she wasn't merely competing for a crown. She was standing there for the woman she had become after everything she had survived.

When she won the Mrs. India Global title, her greatest sense of pride came not from the crown itself, but from knowing that she had kept a promise to herself: never allow age, fear, or circumstances to decide when her dreams should end.
Her proudest victory was having the courage to begin again.
Being Part of LiveWabiSabi Stories
For Shikha, being part of LiveWabiSabi Stories means embracing the beauty of being imperfect, authentic, and still becoming.
She believes our scars, struggles, age, failures, and unexpected turns are not things we need to hide. They are the very elements that make our stories meaningful.
At this stage of her life, she understands that perfection is not the destination. Being true to yourself is.
Being featured in WabiSabi Stories allows Shikha to celebrate her own journey while encouraging others to embrace theirs. Her story reminds women of every age that they can begin again, dream again, choose themselves again, and create a beautiful new chapter, regardless of what came before.
Her Biggest Cheerleader
Shikha describes her family as her strongest support system, but if she had to name one person, it would be her husband ~ Kshitiz Kumar Kharia.
He has been the quiet believer behind her confidence, standing beside her through difficult moments and supporting not only her dreams, but the woman she continues to become.
From reminding her of her lines before the pageant to being there during challenging chapters of her life, his support has been a constant source of strength.
Her children, Dr Ayush & Daughter-in-law ~ Dr Avni, too, remain a powerful motivation. Their love reminds her that when we pursue our dreams, we also teach the next generation that it is never too late to believe in yourself.

That is why Shikha does not see the crown as hers alone. She sees it as carrying the love, encouragement, and faith of the people who stood behind her when she couldn't always stand alone.
To her family, she says: “Thank you for being my strength, my safe place, and my biggest reason to keep shining.”

Her Message to Other Women
Shikha's message reaches beyond women, it is for every person navigating an imperfect, unpredictable, beautifully human journey.
Don't wait to become perfect before allowing yourself to be happy.
Life is not a straight line. We all experience scars, setbacks, mistakes, doubts, and moments when we question ourselves. But these imperfections are not something to be ashamed of. They are part of our story.
She encourages women not to compare their chapter with someone else's, because every journey has its own timing. Your worth is not determined by your age, appearance, achievements, or anyone else's opinion.

Sometimes life breaks us. But those broken places can also become the spaces through which courage, wisdom, compassion, and light enter.
“You don't have to be perfect to shine. Sometimes, it is through our cracks that the most beautiful light enters.”
