Madhabi Roy, VG Mrs India South Zone, is a music teacher, singer, dancer, and model whose journey beautifully reflects the LiveWabiSabi belief that our imperfections and difficult chapters can become part of our strength. Born and brought up in West Bengal in a conservative family,
Madhabi married young and embraced the responsibilities of a joint family while continuing to pursue her education, music, career, and dreams.
As a defence professional's wife, she moved across India with her husband’s transferable postings, worked in various schools, and served as an AFWWA secretary while raising two children.
After the heartbreaking loss of both her parents, she went through a deeply difficult phase, but found the courage to rebuild herself through the world of pageantry. Today, as VG Mrs India South Zone, she has turned a childhood dream into reality.
LiveWabiSabi celebrates Madhabi because her story reminds women of every age that life may change our timelines, but it never has to take away our dreams.
Her WabiSabi Life Story
Madhabi’s journey has been one of constantly adapting, learning, and beginning again.
She grew up in West Bengal in a conservative family and completed her B.A. and B.Ed. Her passions always extended beyond academics, singing, dancing, and modelling were close to her heart, and she carried a childhood dream of winning a beauty pageant.
She married at an early age and became part of a joint family. With her husband serving in the defence services, life meant frequent moves across different parts of India. Alongside caring for her two children and embracing her family responsibilities, Madhabi continued her education and pursued music degrees.
She also built her professional identity by working in various schools and serving as an AFWWA secretary. Her journey was never linear, but she continued to find ways to grow within every new chapter.
Then came one of her most painful seasons, the sudden loss of both her parents. The grief left her in deep depression, and she found herself navigating emotional and physical ups and downs.
Yet, that was not where her story ended.

The opportunity to participate in a beauty pageant gave her a new platform to rediscover herself, overcome a difficult phase, and fulfil the dream she had carried since her teenage years. Winning became more than a title, it became proof that it is possible to rebuild, reclaim your identity, and pursue a dream even after life takes you through unexpected detours.
Like Kintsugi, Madhabi’s story shows us that what has been broken does not have to be hidden. With courage, purpose, and time, it can become part of what makes us shine.
Her Daily Dose of SelfLoveShots
For Madhabi, self-love is not about perfection. It is about taking care of herself, both physically and mentally.
She prioritizes physical fitness through yoga and gym workouts. For her mental well-being, she finds joy and balance through singing and meditation.
But there is another important part of her self-love: continuing to pursue the dreams she once had as a teenager.
For Madhabi, growing older has not meant giving up on the woman she once dreamed of becoming. Instead, she continues to create space for those dreams and believes in achieving them, one step at a time.

Her Proudest Moment
One of Madhabi’s earliest proud moments was surprisingly simple yet deeply meaningful, the day she received her first salary.
Holding the money she had earned herself gave her a sense of accomplishment and independence. It was a reminder that her efforts, skills, and dedication could create something of her own.
Years later, fulfilling her childhood dream through a beauty pageant became another powerful milestone in her journey.

Being Part of LiveWabiSabi Stories
For Madhabi, being part of LiveWabiSabi Stories is both an honour and a privilege.
More importantly, it represents a new chapter in her journey, one where she is recognized by her own identity and not simply through the roles she has played in life.
She believes this platform can open new avenues for her personal and professional growth and help her move closer to the success she continues to envision for herself.
Her story is exactly why WabiSabi Stories exists: to celebrate people who have lived through change, embraced their imperfections, and continued to evolve.
Her Biggest Cheerleader
Behind Madhabi’s journey stands a strong support system, her husband and her daughters.
Their encouragement has been an important part of her ability to keep moving forward, pursue her aspirations, and believe in herself through different seasons of life.
Sometimes, having people who believe in us can give us the strength to believe in ourselves again.
Her Message to Other Women
Madhabi’s message is simple, powerful, and timeless:
“Never give up on your dreams. Age is never a limitation, when an opportunity comes your way, have the courage to embrace it.”
Her journey is a beautiful reminder that dreams do not have an expiry date. You may have responsibilities. You may have setbacks. You may have to pause, restart, or take a completely different route.
But you can always choose to begin again.
Madhabi Roy is proof that it is never too late to reclaim a dream, rediscover yourself, and step into the identity you have always wanted to create.
