Angie Yemma is a therapist, practice owner, LCAT, and Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist based in New York, with 15 years of experience helping people navigate their inner worlds. Her specialty is perfectionism, a theme she understands not only professionally, but personally. Through motherhood, an unexpected season of isolation, and the courageous leap of building her own practice, Angie has learned to embrace life as it unfolds rather than waiting for it to become perfect.

LiveWabiSabi celebrates her story because it is a beautiful reminder that embracing the messy, uncertain and imperfect parts of life can lead us closer to joy, authenticity and ourselves.

Her WabiSabi Life Story

For Angie, one of the most difficult and transformative chapters of her life came in 2020.

She was pregnant during the pandemic and gave birth to her son in October 2020. What should have been a deeply celebratory time became unexpectedly difficult. Isolation meant she couldn't experience the usual moments of welcoming a new baby with family and friends. There were feelings of disappointment, sadness and anger, and Angie remembers that period as something that felt “broken.”

But, much like the Japanese art of kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, time helped her see that chapter differently.

It reinforced a powerful truth: we aren't promised tomorrow, nor are we promised that life will unfold according to the desires we have for our future.

Today, Angie chooses to live differently.

She takes joy in each day and amplifies it. She plans the trips. She sees her friends. She spends time with the people she loves. Rather than postponing happiness for some imagined perfect future, she intentionally creates space for joy in the present.

Her story is not about pretending that difficult experiences don't hurt. It is about allowing those experiences to change the way we choose to live.

Her Daily Dose of SelfLoveShots

Angie's version of self-love isn't elaborate or performative. It is found in the simple things that genuinely make her feel like herself.

Reading books. Watching reality TV. Texting with friends. Spending time with her son and family. Planning vacations.

For Angie, self-love looks less like perfection and more like making room for the things that bring genuine comfort, connection and joy into everyday life.

Her Proudest Moment

One of Angie's proudest moments came when she decided to take a leap of faith and build something of her own.

After working full-time at a hospital, she left her position and stepped fully into her private therapy practice.

It was a courageous move, and one that quickly proved to her that she could make it work.

Within just three months, her practice became full.

She had networked, hustled, figured things out and built her business from the ground up.

And in that moment, she could look at what she had created and say: “I did that.”

It wasn't simply about filling her practice. It was about trusting herself enough to leave the familiar and create a new path.

Being Part of LiveWabiSabi Stories

For Angie, being part of LiveWabiSabi Stories represents community.

It is an opportunity to share her experiences and perhaps offer something meaningful to someone else who may be navigating their own imperfect journey.

Her story reminds us that vulnerability can become connection, and that sharing what we've lived through may help someone else feel a little less alone.

Her Biggest Cheerleader

Angie's strongest support system comes from people who understand the world she works in and the journey she has taken.

Her fellow clinicians and her graduate-school classmates have been her biggest supporters.

They represent the power of having people around you who understand your challenges, celebrate your growth and remind you that you don't have to navigate everything alone.

Her Message to Other Women

Angie's message is simple, powerful and deeply Wabi-Sabi:

It's not about the product; it's about the process.

Lean into the feelings. Lean into the mess. Lean into the uncertainty.

And don't wait for everything to be perfectly aligned before you move toward the life you want.

Take the leap.

Move toward more joy each day.

Because sometimes the most beautiful version of life isn't the one we carefully planned, it is the one we learn to fully live.

“It isn't about the product but the process. Lean into the feelings, mess, and uncertainty. And take a leap and move towards more joy each day.”
