Sara Knight: Turning survival into art, advocacy, and unstoppable resilience

Sara Knight livewabisabi

Sara Knight is a powerful reminder that healing and success can coexist. An internationally recognised photographer, author, autism advocate, survivor, and mother of six, Sara’s story is one of courage, reinvention, and finding beauty after brokenness. Through her lens and lived experiences, she continues to inspire women across the world to embrace authenticity, resilience, and the imperfect paths that lead us home to ourselves. Live Wabi Sabi is honoured to feature Sara because her journey proves that no matter how difficult life becomes, it is never too late to reclaim your voice, your dreams, and your light.

Her WabiSabi Life Story

Sara Knight is an award-winning photographer, creative entrepreneur, and storyteller whose work captures raw emotion, human connection, and authentic moments. As the founder of Sara Louise Photography, she has built a globally recognised creative career while navigating profound personal challenges that shaped her resilience and purpose.

Behind her success is a journey marked by childhood abuse, domestic violence, survival, and ultimately freedom. Sara shares that the turning point in her life came in 2017, the moment she finally began discovering who she was truly meant to be. Instead of allowing her pain to define her, she transformed it into purpose, creativity, advocacy, and empowerment.

Today, Sara is internationally celebrated for her work, including winning the prestigious International Street Photographer of the Year 2023/2024 award. She is also a passionate autism advocate and uses storytelling as a tool for healing, awareness, and connection.

Like the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, Sara’s scars have become part of her strength. Her story shines not because life was perfect, but because she chose to rebuild herself with courage, honesty, and grace.

Her Daily Dose of SelfLoveShots

For Sara, self-love is not about perfection or constant positivity, it is about protecting her peace. In her daily life, self-love means refusing to fall back into dark mental spaces, taking moments to meditate, reset her mind, and remind herself of her worth. It is the quiet, intentional practice of choosing herself every single day.

Her Proudest Moment

One of Sara’s proudest milestones was being selected to photograph the Women Changing the World Awards in Paris. It was more than just a professional achievement, it was a deeply personal victory. Leaving her country for the first time and accomplishing it entirely on her own became a defining moment of independence, courage, and self-belief.

Being Part of LiveWabiSabi Stories

To Sara, being part of Live Wabi Sabi Stories means celebrating authenticity, vulnerability, and the beauty found within imperfection. She believes that sharing real stories has the power to heal, connect, and inspire others who may still be finding their way.

For her, Wabi Sabi represents strength through survival, honouring every scar, lesson, setback, and breakthrough that shapes a person into who they are becoming. Through creativity and storytelling, Sara hopes to remind others that there is beauty in evolving, rebuilding, and unapologetically embracing your truth.

Her Biggest Cheerleader

Sara lovingly credits her husband, James Knight, as her greatest supporter, the first person to truly show her what unconditional love, encouragement, and genuine partnership look like.

She also deeply acknowledges Kylie King from Australia Ladies in Business for constantly pushing her toward her goals and helping her find peace and confidence within herself. Another important supporter in her journey has been Katy from Women Changing the World, who never gave up on her and gave Sara the platform to begin sharing her story with the world.

Her Message to Other Women

Sara’s message is a powerful reminder that hardship does not define destiny.

“No matter what stone or hardship is thrown at you, you can break through and achieve your dreams, even if you have to take a different path.” ~ Sara Knight

Her story stands as proof that resilience, support, and self-belief can rebuild even the most broken chapters into something meaningful and beautiful.
