Dr. Aninda Sidhana is a Psychiatrist, Psychosexual Medicine Specialist, and UN NGL Fellow whose life reflects the courage to transform pain into purpose. Currently serving as the IGC Ishkama Country Chair and Medical Advisor for HealCycle, she blends clinical expertise with lived resilience. Live Wabi Sabi is honored to feature her because her journey reminds us that healing is not about perfection—it is about embracing the cracks that make us human. Her story inspires women of all ages to believe that even after life’s most difficult chapters, it is always possible to rise, rebuild, and shine again.
Her WabiSabi Life Story
Dr. Aninda’s journey of healing was not defined by a single moment of collapse but by a slow and painful erosion of self during two marriages that left her feeling broken, helpless, and emotionally amputated. Living with invisible wounds while facing the judgments of the world forced her to confront one haunting question: how can love sometimes become a weapon?
In the midst of that darkness, she discovered strength in the philosophy of Viktor Frankl, the idea that when we cannot change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. Instead of waiting for life to offer meaning, she chose to create it.

Like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, Dr. Aninda began weaving her fragments into purpose through her work in psychiatry and through The Dignity Dialogues, a platform dedicated to restoring dignity in mental health conversations. Supported deeply by her family, she slowly rebuilt herself.
Today, she calls her journey “Scars to Stars.” Those scars no longer represent endings; they have become guiding lights for others navigating pain, survival, and healing.
Her Daily Dose of SelfLoveShots
For Dr. Aninda, self-love is not a glamorous ritual, it is a quiet act of rebellion. It is reclaiming self-esteem after it has been stripped away and understanding that healing is neither linear nor rushed.
Some days, old memories return through a song, a flashback, or the picture of a life once imagined. On those days, she allows herself grace, to pause, to cry, and to rest. She believes grief is the price we pay for love and that accepting the past is part of honoring our journey.
Self-love also looks like calling a friend in tears and hanging up laughing, travelling when the soul needs air, and writing when words become the safest weapon. As she says, not everyone can pick up the sword, but everyone can pick up the pen.

Above all, it is trusting the process, believing in destiny, Maktub, that everything is written, and embracing the glorious, imperfect mess that makes us human.
Her Proudest Moment
While Dr. Aninda has been honoured with recognitions such as the Rex Karamveer Chakra and the Indian Psychiatric Society Resilience Award, the moment that fills her with the greatest pride is far more personal.
It happens when someone reaches out and says, “Your story saved my life.”

Being named among the Top 100 Inspiring Women is meaningful, but knowing that her once-invisible wounds have become a visible map of hope for someone else is what truly touches her heart.
Being Part of LiveWabiSabi Stories
For Dr. Aninda, being part of the Wabi Sabi Stories series is a beautiful validation of the messy and unpolished parts of her journey. In psychiatry, the world often searches for cures, but Wabi Sabi teaches something deeper ~ acceptance.
This space allows her to show up fully as herself: the doctor, the survivor, and the woman behind the titles. It is a reminder that broken does not mean finished. It simply means evolving.
Her Biggest Cheerleader
Dr. Aninda considers herself deeply blessed to have a support system that became the gold in her Kintsugi journey. With her entire family connected to the Indian Psychiatric Society, she has always been surrounded by people who understand the depth of human struggle.
Her greatest pillars have been her parents, along with Anoop and Itee, who remained her unwavering anchors. Her sister, Ruchi Sidana, held the family together during some of the most challenging years, standing strong even while caring for their Badepapa through cancer.
Alongside family, she treasures her “soul-tribe”, Shweta Raina, Ishita Anand, Amrit Pattojoshi, Ananya Grover, Bafimummy, and Dr. Sharma, people who refused to let her believe her story had ended.

They were the wind beneath her wings when she was learning to fly again.
Her Message to Other Women
To anyone walking through their own imperfect chapter, Dr. Aninda offers a powerful reminder: the interval in your life story is not the end of the movie.
It is simply the moment where you decide to change the script.
Society may notice the cracks, but our greatest freedom lies in choosing our response to them. Life can be rebuilt again and again, and true wealth is not measured by titles but by the people who hold us when we fall apart.
Her message is simple yet profound:
Trust your gold. Trust your wings. Take the jump. The stars are waiting.
